Burlesque and Taking Woodstock and The Pelican Brief
This week I got Burlesque and Taking Woodstock from Netflix. I also bought The Pelican Brief at Wal-Mart this week. Here is what I thought about this movies.
Burlesque
After leaving Iowa with stars in her eyes, Ali (Christina Aguilera) arrives in Los Angeles and at a burlesque lounge, where she dreams of taking the stage with her soaring voice. Club owner Tess (Cher) is about to lose the place and thinks Ali may help business. Meanwhile, Ali’s roommate (Cam Gigandet) starts to fall for her in this snappy, Golden Globe-nominated comedy co-starring Stanley Tucci as Tess’s sidekick and Kristen Bell as Ali’s rival.
This is a movie were Christina Aguilera gets to sing and dance. Lot of good supporting actors in this one. If you are the kind of person that really enjoys musical then you will enjoy this movie.

Taking Woodstock
A twenty something man (Demetri Martin) finds his life forever changed in the summer of 1969 when he offers up his parents’ motel in the Catskills as a home base for Woodstock organizers and helps the show go on by donating an all-important music festival permit. Ang Lee directs this fresh take on 1960s counterculture based on Elliot Tiber’s memoir of the same name. Eugene Levy, Imelda Staunton, Emile Hirsch and Jeffrey Dean Morgan co-star.
This is one of those movies that nothing really happens poor family hosts Woodstock and town gets mad than Woodstock ends and movie over. Might be worth renting if you like Demetri Martin.

The Pelican Brief
When law student Darby Shaw (Julia Roberts) writes a brief on her theory about the motive behind the assassinations of two Supreme Court justices, she finds bullets flying in her direction and turns to investigative reporter Gray Grantham (Denzel Washington) for help. Director Alan J. Pakula returns to the world of inside-the-Beltway conspiracies with this legal thriller based on a John Grisham novel.
This was a great thriller movie about the justice system and starred a lot of actors and actresses that I have seen in a lot movies since then. This was a first watch for me and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by this $5 movie buy.
