Soul Surfer and Morning Glory

This weekend at the theater I saw a movie called Soul Surfer. I remember seeing one commercial for this movie and it looked OK as I like surfing movies (Blue Crush). I also received Morning Glory from Netflix this week.

Soul Surfer

Soul Surfer’ is the inspiring true story of teen surfer Bethany Hamilton, who lost her arm in a shark attack and courageously overcame all odds to become a champion again, through her sheer determination and unwavering faith. The film features an all-star cast, including AnnaSophia Robb and Helen Hunt, with Carrie Underwood in her film debut, and Dennis Quaid. In the wake of this life-changing event that took her arm and nearly her life, Bethany’s feisty determination and steadfast beliefs spur her toward an adventurous comeback that gives her the grit to turn her loss into a gift for others.

I did not know that Dennis Quaid or Helen Hunt were in this movie so good surprise. I heard about this story like everyone else on the news when it happened so I knew the story. I was very much surprised with this movie was not excepting good acting and great surfing. A lot of emotion, very sad and also very inspirational, so overall an incredible movie. Now i wish I lived by an ocean so I could learn to surf.

Morning Glory

From director Roger Michell (‘Notting Hill’, ‘Venus’), producer J.J. Abrams (“Felicity,” “Alias,” “Lost,” ‘Star Trek’), and writer Aline Brosh McKenna (‘The Devil Wears Prada’, ’27 Dresses’), comes ‘Morning Glory,’ a new romantic comedy set in the hilarious and dysfunctional world of morning television. Rachel McAdams, Harrison Ford and Diane Keaton star along with Patrick Wilson and Jeff Goldblum.

When hard-working TV producer Becky Fuller (McAdams) is fired from a local news program, her career begins to look as bleak as her hapless love life. Stumbling into a job at “Daybreak” (the last-place national morning news show), Becky decides to revitalize the show by bringing on legendary TV anchor Mike Pomeroy (Ford). Unfortunately, Pomeroy refuses to cover morning show staples like celebrity gossip, weather, fashion and crafts — let alone work with his new co-host, Colleen Peck (Keaton), a former beauty queen and longtime morning show personality who is more than happy covering morning “news.” As Mike and Colleen clash, first behind the scenes and then on the air, Becky’s blossoming love affair with fellow producer, Adam Bennett (Wilson) begins to unravel — and soon Becky is struggling to save her relationship, her reputation, her job and ultimately, the show itself.

Just look at all the stars that worked on this movie and ask how could they go wrong. This movie delivered because it was witty, fun, and smart. I thought this movie made morning television seem more enjoyable to me. This movie is defiantly worth watching more than once, some look for it on DVD and buy it.
