Coyote Ugly, The King’s Speech, and The Tourist

This week I got Coyote Ugly, The King’s Speech, and The Tourist from my Netflix queue.

Coyote Ugly

When gorgeous, talented Violet Sanford (Piper Perabo) lands in New York City with hopes of becoming a famous songwriter, she’s forced to make ends meet by working at Coyote Ugly, a hot new club filled with beautiful bartenders and outrageous entertainment. Shaking her assets behind the bar certainly helps to boost the shy Violet’s confidence. But it hasn’t completely cured her crippling case of stage fright. John Goodman co-stars.

This movie is a about a songwriter that works in a NYC bar with lots of hot women. That is all you need to know to see this movie.

Rating: 9 out of 10 stars.

The King’s Speech

Britain’s King George VI (Colin Firth) struggles with an embarrassing stutter for years until he seeks help from unorthodox Australian speech therapist Lionel Logue (Geoffrey Rush) in this biographical drama that chalked up multiple Academy Awards, including Best Picture. Logue’s pioneering treatment and unlikely friendship give the royal leader a sense of confidence that serves him and his country well during the dark days of World War II.

Colin Firth was brilliant in this movie. This is a movie that everyone should see at least once. Everyone in this movie was amazing.

Rating: 10 out of 10 stars.

The Tourist

Watery Venice, Italy, provides the setting as Johnny Depp, playing an American tourist seeking solace for his shattered heart, instead finds it in danger again after encountering a beautiful Interpol agent (Angelina Jolie). Little does the Yank know that the artful lady has gone to great lengths to arrange their “chance” meeting and is using him to trap a thief who happens to be her ex-lover. The film earned Golden Globe nods for Depp and Jolie.

I have heard a lot of mixed reviews about this movie. Jolie and Depp got academy award nominations and I really enjoyed the story line. I highly recommend this movie.

Rating: 7 out of 10 stars.
